Environmental Insurance

Environmental risk transfers are dependent upon a competitive insurance marketplace offering products designed to help clients quantify and defease environmental risks. Competitively priced environmental insurance is a key element of the EMSOURCE risk transfer transaction. Competitive environmental insurance programs are offered by several Superior A+ or better by AM Best carriers.  Most carriers offer a range of coverages, including:

  • Pollution Legal Liability (PLL): Provide coverage for claims arising from pollution conditions at scheduled locations, including claims for cleanup, as well as bodily injury and property damage. regulatory "reopener", and legal defense costs.  New conditions coverage can be included in most PLL policies.
  • Cost Cap or Stop Loss: Provide coverage for increases in costs of a known cleanup to limit the risk of significant remediation and long-term maintenance cost overruns.
  • Contaminated Property Development: Provide coverage for  properties with known environmental problems on which there is planned remediation and a planned development. It contains both property transfer coverage and cost cap coverage. It can also include contractual liability, business interruption, and extra expense coverage.
  • Contractor's Pollution Liability and Errors and Omissions: Provide coverage for bodily injury and property damage (including cleanup of pollution conditions) arising out of operations performed by the insured contractor or consultant on a third-party's property.
